Benaki Museum
Shop

Over the last half century, the Benaki Museum Shop has grown to be one of Greece’s most innovative concept stores, selling not only high-quality replicas, but also products made by upcoming as well as established designers. It supports crafts and traditional techniques, organises a plethora of events, workshops, and initiatives like the ‘Kriezotou 3 Window’ where artists exhibit their work, and many more.

The development and expansion of the Shop, as well as the constantly changing market and the technological evolution created the need for a visual rebrand essential.

In order to have a consistent visual correlation with the Museum, the emblem and the typeface used for its logotype were kept. Altering its form and layout, the Shop’s logotype plays with the letter H. The H, visually similar to a bridge, depicts the Shops core essence; to bridge the gap between the exhibits and the viewer. Thus, a flexible and playful design system was created, able to support any kind of object, exhibition or happening.

To promote the very different products the Shop offers, a colourful aesthetic was developed across media, while innovative ways to increase audience engagement were developed.

An elegant and contemporary version of Didot was designed by Parachute type foundry to elevate the Shop's identity and bring the finesse and quality standards that the Museum collections promote.

BMS E-Shop

The Benaki Museum Shop website is more than just an e-shop; its a getaway to a world of cultural treasures.

The goal was to craft a user-friendly e-shop that showcases the diverse and multifaceted product collections. The user-centric approach ensured seamless navigation and allows visitors to explore, appreciate, and purchase high quality replicas, and contemporary design objects that reflect artistic innovation.

Moreover, the website served as a platform for Greek designers, artists and craftsmen who, throughout their collaboration with the museum, have drawn inspiration from its extensive collections. It also housed an archive of past exhibitions and initiatives held by the Museum Shop, dedicated to the curation and promotion of applied arts in Greece, showcasing objects distinguished for their authenticity and technical excellence.
